Character Name: Lucille “Lace” Mae Avery
Canon Name: N/A
Canon Point: Up to her current history, bro.
OC, AU, or CRAU Info: I hate paragraphs, so have a bullet list of Lace’s general history~
- Lace was born on March 3, 1994. (She is currently 22 years old)
- Father was an horologist, Dennis.
- Mother was an illustrator, Marie.
- Had one sister, Ruby, three years older than Lace.
- Mother passed away when Lace was two years old.
- Ruby and Lace were very close.
- Ruby and Lace helped their dad with work on weekends.
- Lace eventually began working on electronics as well – she’s not great at terminology, but she watched YouTube videos on how to fix a lot of stuff and sort of has a knack for it.
- Lace did well in school, but wasn’t sure what she wanted to do for college, so she worked instead.
- She spent two years working in her uncle’s restaurant – first as a waitress, then working in the kitchen.
- Eventually she decided that she wanted to work in pastries and decided to go to school.
- One year into school, all hell broke loose when the Cybertronians brought their fight to Earth.
- Lace’s hometown managed to avoid some of the major initial waves, but a few months into the fighting they were hit hard.
- Lace’s father and sister were out during an attack, and were caught in the crossfire. Ruby died, Dennis was injured badly and ended up in a coma.
- Dennis stayed in a coma for months before passing away very recently.
Lace reacted to the loss of her entire family poorly. Her friends and acquaintances were already scattered, dealing with the ‘attack’ on Earth in different ways, so Lace was left with very few ties. Lace kept up with her father’s business as long as he was alive, but sold it after he passed, and sold their house as well. She has a reserve of money in a bank, but otherwise has severed ties with her life as much as she can (as she honestly doesn’t know when or even if she will get back to it). She is hellbent on some sort of revenge, or at least some sort of closure, if at all possible. She’s traveled to the cyberformed section of the world, going off of rumors and reports of any sort she can, to try and investigate the asshole robots who ruined her life and figure out how to help take them down.
Personality:
- Blunt: She tells it like it is, as far as she’s concerned. Better not to dance around the truth (or her opinions).
- Passionate: She gets very invested in things, and will do whatever she can to make sure she gets the outcome she wants.
- Feisty: She doesn’t want to deal with your shit or be told what to do.
- Closed-off: She does not wear her heart on her sleeve. She used to be more open, but y’know, trauma and stuff made her shut that shit down. She just doesn’t like feeling vulnerable.
- Stubborn: Don’t tell her that she can’t do something – it just makes her want to do it more. She’s pretty set in her ways and determined to do and think what she wants. She can come around, maybe… but it takes a lot of rather subtle convincing.
- Day-Dreamer: She gets lost sometimes in really elaborate “what-ifs”. She has a big imagination, even if she’s not always sure how to follow her ideas.
Sample:
Lace had followed so many leads that they had begun to run together. She was fairly sure that the same alien robot thing had been seen by four different people in three different countries all at the same time. That was part of the trouble with this situation – everyone was paranoid. They all thought they were seeing alien robots, all the time. Everyone was on-edge waiting for the world to rumble again. It had been a relatively long time since any real fighting had occurred, but the world seemed to still be collectively suffering from PTSD.
But this lead was different. She could feel it.
It was hard to miss the section of the world that was turning to metal. Everyone knew where that was. The problem was that it was huge, and growing. So hearing that there was ‘a dead one of those robot things’ at the ‘edge of the metal hellscape’ wasn’t exactly helpful, despite having a good general direction. At least as Lace got closer, more people seemed to have better information. With each new tip, she was more confident in her direction.
She was exhausted when she finally found it. She almost thought her eyes were playing tricks on her when she glimpsed it on the horizon. Most of the metal all looked the same at some point, especially when you were walking along the edge, so seeing something of a vaguely different shape and vastly different color was a good sign – but it also seemed like an illusion, the oasis in the desert. But as she continued forward the shape became clearer; this wasn’t an illusion after all.
“Brilliant.” She might have run to the thing if she had it in her. As it was, she adjusted her bag on her shoulders, and directed what energy she still had into closing the distance as steadily as possible. Eyes narrowed, a grin on her face, she was ready to investigate some robots.
